Please let me know if a radio discussion isn't appropriate for this forum/thread - I'm cool if it isn't. But if it is appropriate...what portable radio do you use and how do you like it?

The reason I ask is we're looking at purchasing some new high band portables. We've got some quotes for a Harris XL185P and a Tait TP9600. While I know of State agencies that use these makes/models, we've never used them. Just wondering if anyone has used either of these models and can comment.
Thanks!

I have no experience with the Harris XL185P or the Tait TP9600, but I've heard good things about both. The Harris radios are often praised for their durability and range, while Tait radios are known for their user-friendly interface and excellent audio quality. If you're looking at high-band portables, both seem like solid options!

I get the portable radio hunt; it can be a bit of a jungle. They have some great models that deliver clarity and battery life. I've had my fair share of experiences, and I've gotta say that motorola two way radios are a solid choice. They're pretty durable, which is a huge plus if you're out and about a lot.
The Motorola Talkabout series is fantastic if you're looking for something compact. Depending on your location, they're easy to use and can handle a reasonable range. It's like having a reliable buddy with you, ready to chat whenever you need.
So, in my opinion, if you want something dependable and user-friendly, go for Motorola.
